Own Art News

Visit us at Manchester Art Fair, and see work by featured Outside In artist Greg Bromley

28 August 2018

Own Art will be exhibiting with our charity partners and Own Art Members Outside In, at Manchester Art Fair and The Manchester Contemporary on 12-14 October 2018.

Outside In is an award-winning charity working to create a fairer and more inclusive art world by showcasing excellent work from artists who face barriers to the art world due to health, disability, isolation or other social issues.

We will be showing Greg Bromley's 'Parasite fight in the living infinite' on our stand, available to purchase with Own Art. In Greg's words:

"In terms of the narrative of the painting, from a Cosmic Wormhole point of view, it’s a painting of a Mataphantor which of course looks very much like an elephant.

The image can be read as the humanoid characters, within the belly of the beast, fist fighting each other over the prize of the beast; the mataphantor's trunk has another humanoid character ready to ingest to fight the winner…the loser would be excreted...I guess the social commentary is the parasitic nature of man fighting each other over resources that belong to all beasts and that this cycle will always continue until there are no more resources."

At 90x90cm, as well as being an arresting, colourful piece, close up viewing offers incredible detail. So, come and see it for yourselves on the Own Art Stand, number 201. It will be available to purchase on the day with Own Art at £79 a month for 10 months (£790 in total).

A reminder, we've made it possible for you to attend the North's most prestigious event and its VIP Preview for FREE when you use the code OWNART, during booking.
