James McGairy has been a working artist since 1991 and continually draws his inspiration from the ever-changing drama of northern moorland, dales and coast.

Working primarily in acrylic, James attempts to capture the moment and subtleties of light with a combination of  ‘En plein air’ painting on location and photographic reference.

His process involves layering the paint in an effort to achieve depth, feeling his way into the paintings.

James’ work is collected internationally and has also contested Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year.
