Marissa Weatherhead ‘A Table by the Sea’ | Spring Headline Exhibition
Marissa Weatherhead paints colourful still life pieces with evident influences of Picasso and Matisse. An MA graduate from the Royal College of Art, Marissa has exhibited internationally and has a commissioned piece hanging in the Guildhall at London’s Barbican
‘A Table by the Sea’ is a collection of still life paintings; tablescapes which often are laden with seafood, fruit and foliage, making reference to pleasurable moments of indulgence and occasion.
“I have used the theme of ‘a table ‘ in my work as a recurring concept over the years and have been lucky enough to be selected for several ‘artist in residences’ with this as a central starting point for creating a body of works.
The table itself is rarely represented as a whole in my work but serves as the stage for a group of objects either separate or connected on which to perform.”
