Stewart Edmondson Solo Show – Call of the Wild
‘Call of the Wild’ is a solo show of new work from Dartmoor based
artist Stewart Edmondson which launches at Dart Gallery this Easter.
In this new series of paintings of Devon (and his first solo show at the gallery in nearly two years) you’ll find shimmering seascapes, intimate woodlands, tranquil rivers and glowering tors, each in Stewart’s familiar and very collectable style. Over 35 new paintings will feature.
- Low Tide Burgh Island
- One Morning’s Glory
- With the Wind and the Waves
Stewart has a background in Landscape Architecture and a keen interest in deep ecology which informs his approach to painting. He wonders in the wilds around us to immerse himself in the landscape, starting paintings on location and later finishing them in his studio.
Every painting reflects the elements at play as Stewart paints; raindrops leaves marks as they fall, flames scorch paper and the season determines his palette (look out for his spectacular monochrome winter paintings).
Stewart hopes to capture the essence of the landscape around us and remind us all of our connection to the wild. Stewart will be at the gallery for the first view to talk about his work. Guests will have the chance to hear Stewart talk directly about the passions and interests that inform his painting.
Don’t miss this chance to add one of Stewart’s beautiful paintings to your collection. Whether you already collect Stewart’s work or have only just discovered him, this is a very special show from which to make a selection.
Taking inspiration from Stewart’s ethos and in celebration of Earth Day 2019, this show will be the gallery’s first plastic free event; the gallery will be minimising and where possible eliminating the use of plastic for despatching sold paintings.
‘Call of the Wild’, a solo show of new work by Stewart Edmondson launches on Saturday 20th April with a first view from 6.30pm
