Jolomo: The Power of Colour
Step into a world of light, energy and joy with The Power of Colour, the latest solo exhibition by celebrated Scottish artist John Lowrie Morrison OBE (Jolomo).
For over forty years, John has been inspired by the changing light of Scotland, transforming it into paintings that radiate warmth and emotion. His distinctive use of colour and expressive brushwork has made him one of the country’s most beloved artists and this new exhibition captures that spirit in full!
As John reflects, “To me, paintings should be about colour. Sometimes I’ve wondered if I actually see colours brighter than most people do.
I paint my world, the way I see it, rather than the way it actually is.”
The Power of Colour celebrates everything that makes Jolomo’s work so loved; colour that leaps from the canvas, transforming even the dullest winter skies into scenes filled with life and optimism. The exhibition brings together his iconic Scottish landscapes alongside a fresh series of still lifes, each piece alive with movement, texture and light.
“The greatest thing you can do is to make people happy,” John says. “I try to lift people’s spirits. Colours are not just visual and beautiful.
I hope my paintings give these feelings to people who buy and enjoy them, and put a smile on their face.”
That sense of joy fills the gallery. Each painting feels like a window into John’s world, where light and colour offer comfort, hope and inspiration.
We’re thrilled to share this remarkable exhibition and invite you to experience The Power of Colour in person. See for yourself how Jolomo transforms Scotland’s landscapes and everyday moments into radiant celebrations of life!
