Art Fairs 2020 – what’s happening?

COVID-19 has changed the way our galleries are having to think and operate, and we’ve had to put a hold on visiting our favourite art fair too. But just because we can’t physically go to the art fairs, doesn’t mean we don’t get the chance to experience and explore them. There’s a whole team of hard-working individuals behind every fair, striving to ensure that no one misses out on the art they love.

Here’s an update of some of the Own Art art fairs for you…

The Other Art Fair

New dates: TBC

#TheOtherOnlineStudios

Visit The Other Art Fair Online Studios, an online platform where you can view and shop all of the Fair artists from the safety of your own home. Explore hundreds of artists profiles locally and across the globe until The Other Art Fair returns to a city near you!

As part of this online initiative, The Other Art Fair is exploring new and exciting content pieces to continue to support their artists and keep the community inspired.  Such as the launch of #TheOtherCreativeChallenge – a weekly creative brief set by the Artists themselves.

Make sure you keep up to date with fair news here.

Roy’s Art Fair

New dates: 8 – 11 October 2020

Truman Brewery, London

To support 2020 Art Graduates who have had their final year shows virtualised or cancelled, Roy’s Art Fair will be launching a competition for final year students to give them the extra platforms for exposure. The competition will be launching on Monday 4th May and will run for 8 weeks.

Each Monday they will select 5 artists and show their work via their social media platforms. These artists will then go into a final competition, that will be judged by top industry experts, and be given prizes which will help them craft their future directions in the industry. To enter, all students need to do is send an image of their degree artwork (with artwork title, full name and university studied at) via Instagram to @Roysartfair.

Prizes on offer are:
– Portfolio review with a gallery curator
– Art supply vouchers
– Artist mentoring sessions
– Sharing of artwork, details and bio on our social media platforms
– Invitation to networking events

Affordable Art Fair

New dates: Hampstead Fair 19 – 22 November

Charity Private View on the night of the 18 November.

The Hampstead Fair has now been postponed until 19 – 22 November, however, plans are for the Battersea Autumn edition to go ahead as normal in October. A significant number of the galleries that were due to exhibit at the postponed fairs have been busy uploading artworks to the Affordable Art Fair online marketplace so you can kick start your art collection from the comfort of your sofa. The best part is that the artworks on show can be bought online and delivered directly to your door.

Keep a close eye on the 12 trending galleries, refreshed every two weeks to promote a new roster that would have been due to exhibit at one of the postponed fairs, so you can still get your dose of virtual art escapism.

#NominateyourNHSHero – nominate your NHS heroes for their chance to win the gift of art, courtesy of one of the Affordable Art Fair’s galleries. Post your nomination on an @affordableartfairuk Instagram post and they could be randomly selected to receive an editioned piece of art.

#AnswersFromIsolation – Follow these fantastic artist Q&A sessions to give some context on how their artistic practices are changing in these unusual times and how this has impacted their artwork.

#HowToAtHome – If you’d like some DIY art tutorials direct from the artists themselves, then follow this hashtag from the Affordable Art Fair. A perfect way to keep the kids (and adults!) engaged during lockdown!

Kids Activity Packs – A weekly activity pack to keep the household creating! Keep an eye out for the artist’s downloads each week and have a go at colouring in at home. You can buy the originals online too!

Fresh: Art Fair

New dates: 27 – 29 November 2020

While Fresh: Art Fair Cheltenham is postponed to November, and the Ascot Fair is still some months away, you can now browse and buy many of the wonderful paintings and sculptures that would have been on show at the April fair.

Fresh: Art Fair have just launched their virtual fair – a new section of the website dedicated to bringing the fair to you at home! Simply click on an image to visit the gallery website and see more by the same artist. Phone or email the gallery direct.

Keep an eye on this space as more artworks will be added.
