Chris Rigby Solo Exhibition
Castlegate House Gallery in the Georgian town of Cockermouth, on the edge of the Lake District National Park the gallery specialises in contemporary British art with its heart remaining firmly in the roots of northern British art. The gallery has an exciting new exhibition of paintings by Lancashire born artist Chris Rigby starting on 19th September to 10th October.
Chris Rigby who has produced in excess of thirty new paintings, spanning the landscape of Cumbria, the seascapes of the West Coast and Isles of Scotland and the domestic architecture of his semi-rural Lancashire and Cumbria border home.
Gallery owners Steve and Christine Swallow first discovered the artist’s work whilst in Cornwall, they say:
“It was the use of light, and tone that amazed us, and it’s that use of light and tone that stands Chris’ work apart from most. Whether used within his more urban scenes, or of rock-faces in the Scottish Highland coasts, Chris displays a true painting talent. Suffice it to say, we were thrilled to discover that Chris lives and works on the Lancashire/Cumbria border.”
Chris’ work has been widely and successfully exhibited across the UK. Notable exhibitions include Beaux Arts, Bath, Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal and The Mall Galleries. He has over 25 solo and 45 mixed exhibitions in his experience.
A film of Chris at work and talking about his process is available to watch here. A launch, with Chris in attendance, will be held on the 19th between 12pm-2pm.
