Dawnne McGeachy | Holding Water: Wind and Sea Archives
McGeachy’s paintings are built through a process of layering, erasure and return. Surfaces are worked and reworked until they hold a sense of movement and instability, where gestural marks sit alongside quieter, more measured passages. The paintings evoke atmosphere, depth and distance, inviting the viewer into an experience of immersion. McGeachy also introduces the recurring motif of the boat, both as object and image. Rooted in her family’s connection to the fishing industry, these forms bring a sense of scale, navigation and human presence within the vastness of the sea.
