A graduate from the renowned Glasgow School of Art with a BA (Hons), Moy Mackay continues to work and live in her native land. From her home in the Scottish Borders, she fuels her passion for colour and texture with an unceasing inspiration drawn from her surroundings in the beautiful Tweed Valley, using merino fleece fibres in the same way that a painter uses brushstrokes. The result is a ‘felt painting’ of extraordinary warmth and texture.
From the Moy Mackay Gallery in Peebles, she continues to exhibit not only her own work, but that of other artists from the Borders and further afield. This website gives the wider audience a chance to view and purchase wonderful pieces of art that Scotland has to offer.
Moy was awarded Silver in the coveted Craft & Design Selected Awards 2013, in the category of Textiles and Needlecraft. The judge, Kaffe Fassett commented on Moy’s wonderful use of colour and texture. Read more in our news section.
In November 2016 Moy was a contestant on SkyArts Landscape Artist of the Year. She was shortlisted to the final three in her heat.
Moy’s third book, The Art of Moy Mackay was published by Search Press in hardback in 2018.
