Southwark Park Galleries is a contemporary art gallery and community charity set across 2 beautiful venues in the heart of Southwark Park. Established in 1984, we have delivered ground-breaking exhibitions and creative culture in the North-East of Southwark for 38 years.
Our mission is to connect people through creativity, using the positive effects of art, nature and culture to facilitate meaning and wellbeing across communities.
Our work with local, national and international artists produces world class exhibitions, supports early career artists and delivers projects in an inclusive & friendly environment, where local communities and artists work together at each stage to create artworks that are truly reflective of and responsive to our changing society.
Central to our mission is our civic responsibility. We work with diverse creatives, local stakeholders and groups to bring communities together, enabling people to tap into their creativity and offer cultural opportunities for communities facing the greatest need in North-East Southwark and beyond.
Our location provides a rare creative and civic offer where world-class culture is firmly embedded in the everyday life of park users & our neighbours.
Our local, regional & national partnerships amplify our ambition for creativity as central to building a more engaged and inclusive society.
All funds raised via the sale of editions and artwork directly support our free Exhibitions and Learning programme creative activities for local people of all ages. Most of our editions are donated by the great artists we work with, to help us fundraise.
Our Annual Engagement & Learning work welcomes people of all ages including:
- Salter Space community hub engagement programmes
- Art & ecology workshops for children, young people & seniors
- Quarterly Seniors Art School
- School Residencies championing creativity & the environment
- Garden Studio Residencies exploring diverse histories, ecologies and heritages
