‘Shadows on the Grass’ Garden Sculpture Exhibition 2025

by Old Chapel Gallery | Pembridge
Date of event: 17/05/25 - 31/12/25

After the cold and wet winter season we will look forward to longer days, balmy evenings and with Summer around the corner our thoughts are turning to our gardens. With this in mind Old Chapel Gallery, Pembridge opens its annual garden sculpture exhibition ‘Shadows on the Grass’, showing the work of talented British designer/makers in a variety of media.

Opening on Saturday May 17 2025 the exhibition will run throughout the year.

An ever-changing collection of unique sculpture for you’re outside space in a variety of media including stone, bronze and iron resins, ironwork, carved stone, glass, ceramics and stainless steel.

Sculptress Rachel Ricketts spent years conserving antiquities and works of art, and restoring wall paintings, predominantly in ecclesiastical buildings and stately homes. Inspiration to sculpt then came along with her newly acquired English Toy Terrier who became her first, very wriggly, subject. Her extensive training did not encompass sculpture, in this she is entirely self-taught, her experience with materials and techniques, including patination processes, have proved invaluable.

Angela Palmer prefers to work with a model directly from life, hoping to capture some of the human qualities expressed by the body. Her sculpture is a direct response to the beauty of the human form, first modelled in clay, then cast into bronze resin, its surface given a patina by a process which accelerates the natural weathering of the bronze and produces some subtly beautiful colours.
