THE FUTURE OF THE ART MARKET REPORT

The #FOTAMUK Unconference was a huge success made by all who attended, and now you can read the Report!

Authored by Lucy Sollitt, the Report surveys the significant changes that have occurred in the contemporary art market over the last 15 years and explores the dominant issues and trends that are likely to have an impact on the market in the decades to come.

Commissioned by Creative United, with a special thanks to the #FOTAMUK partners ArteïaDACS, Creative Scotland and Vastari.

“As a Community Interest Company with a mission to support the growth and development of the arts and creative industries across the UK, we hope that this report will provide some perspective on the particular challenges being faced at this time by artists and enterprises operating in mid and low segments, which is often overlooked in the statistical analysis of a market that has for the past decade been dominated by the phenomenal growth of the ‘top-end’.

We are excited by the opportunities for a more open, transparent and democratic market that appear to be opening up as a result of technological and social change, and look forward to working with our partners across the public and private sectors to harness these in order to better support the development of the contemporary art market in the decade ahead.”
