Simon Crawford and David Austin Duckworth: ‘Colour and Ceramics’
What: a new exhibition, ‘Colour and Ceramics’, right here in York city centre
Who: painter Simon Crawford and ceramicist David Austin Duckworth launch their new collections in this exclusive duo exhibition
When: Saturday 9th October, 12pm – 4pm.
Where: According to McGee, opposite Clifford’s Tower, York.
More: ‘Colour and Ceramics’ is an opportunity for lovers of art to view the latest paintings from Simon Crawford. Colour is the pulse of the painting, and Simon brings a crushed jewel palette influenced by recent trips to India: ‘Cool Shade, Running Water’ are direct depictions of the tropics whilst ‘Whinny Bank, Rievaulx’, all vehement marks and bulging saffron, is the North Yorkshire Moors filtered through memories of heat. Simon’s art has been exhibited internationally and we are stoked to bring this new litmus test of Contemporary Painting to York.
David Austin Duckworth continues his collection, ‘Cornwall Inspired’, a celebration of the elements: his paintings are alive with light and turquoise seas, and his Raku fired ceramics ache with the transience of nature and glow with the beauty that comes with just that.
